We are preparing for a Fall Garden by setting up the light stand to start Tomato, Pepper, and Eggplants. We have some fast-growing varieties which should mature with plenty of time to harvest before the first possible frost.

We have added a fan to our light stand to help strengthen stems and prevent leggedness. If it works, we may add more to our system. Will is mowing, trimming, and performing general maintenance in the garden so hopefully by transplant time we will be ready…

We plan to sell the majority of vegetable starts during our August 9th – 10th neighborhood yard sale. It cost quite a bit to set up and run the light stand so breaking even is our goal! This will require obtaining a Sales Tax permit, a Nursery-Floral Certificate, a pest management program, a DBA, a Square reader, a new business bank account, and maybe a couple of signs. We will also create a public version of the Gregory’s Backyard Facebook Group which has been private for about 8 years. Who knows, with the right amount of support we may have reason to finally assemble the 2nd light shelf. We have the parts; we just need to assemble.
